Sensei Jesse Bair
Jesse began learning martial arts at age 16 in Moscow Idaho. Receiving his Shodan (1st degree black belt) in 1991 under Sensei Amber Thiemens in Kokondo Karate. In 1993 Jesse left Kokondo to join Shoshin Ryu, attending the first Shoshin Ryu National Seminar in Willimantic CT. In 1999 Jesse started his first Shoshin Ryu dojo in Boise Idaho under the guidance of Shoshin Ryu Senior Most Student Brian Combo, teaching out of a racquetball court at the Columbia Village Apartment complex. Jesse is currently a member of the Shoshin Ryu Executive Board and holds a Sandan (3rd degree black belt) in Shoshin Ryu Jujitsu.
Jesse’s martial strengths lie in his Nage (throws) and knife, being the weapons head for knife for the Shoshin Ryu Association and is responsible for developing post Shodan curriculum for this weapon. He has trained with Sensei Pete Campbell in the Boise State Judo Club for the last 12 years, developing a strong understanding of the principals of effortless throwing.
Outside the dojo, Jesse has been employed at Micron Technology since 1994. He is currently a Lead Engineer in the Chemical Mechanical Planarization Department within the R&D operations in Boise.
